Museums 

Among the museums of the City of Lappeenranta, the South Karelia Museum, the Cavalry Museum and the Lappeenranta Art Museum are located in the Fortress of Lappeenranta, in the old barracks and warehouses along Kristiinankatu. Over the decades these buildings, which date back to the Russian period, have been slowly refurbished to serve as Museums. The Wolkoff House Museum is located outside the Fortress, along Kauppakatu.

ATTENTION

All museums in Lappeenranta will be closed as of 18 March 2020 in accordance with the coronavirus guidelines issued by the Finnish Government

The South Karelian Museum, Lappeenranta Art Museum, the Cavalry Museum and Wolkoff House Museum will be closed due to the state of emergency declared in Finland due to the spread of the coronavirus. The museums closed on Wednesday 18 March 2020 and will remain closed until 13 April 2020.

The museum offices are also closed to the public. The employees are mostly working remotely. During these exceptional circumstances, inquiries should be made to the office telephone, at +358 (0)40 587 2274 or e-mail museot@lappeenranta.fi

The cultural environment services offered by the museum (building research and archaeology) will take place electronically or by the phone during the state of emergency. Any inquiries and matters concerning the collections, exhibitions and outreach activities are handled by e-mail or on the telephone.
