The Dream Corner programme continues in autumn 2024 – exhibitions and workshops
In cooperation with the shopping centre IsoKristiina and Lappeenranta City Library, Lappeenranta's Dream Year of Culture 2024 will offer a space for art also in autumn 2024. In the autumn season, the Dream Corner will feature nine artists, exhibitions and workshops.
The Dream Corner's autumn season will continue with culture and art programme from 1.9.2024 until 31.10.2024.
– The purpose of the Dream Corner is to enable creative operators to showcase their expertise and create low-threshold cultural experiences that inspire people to get involved in culture and events, says Anni Pellikka, Project Coordinator of the Dream Year of Culture.
Program for the fall season
Come and Draw dogs: 1.9. and 2.9. at 16–18
Come and Draw dogs in the Dream Corner with Ella Kettunen. On both days there will be different dog models, which you can come draw and greet.
Patterns on Textile workshops: 3.9. and 9.9. at 15–16.30
Participants will renew their own natural fibre textiles by fabric printing. The workshop, which is open to all is free of charge and will take 10 participants. The workshops will be led by textile artesan Kirsi Reilin. Pre-marketing of the Weera’s Pink Ribbon walk: 13.9. at 14–18 and 14.9. at 11–15
At the Dream Corner you can pay the entry fee for the Pink Ribbon walk and find out more about the activities of the Lions Club Weerat and Saimaan Syöpäyhdistys -association. Support products of the Syöpäyhdistys will also be on sale. The Weera Pink Ribbon walk will take place on 20th of September at 17, starting from the Lappeenranta Town Hall.
Towards Dreams with Brushers - Raili Salojärvi's paintings 16.–25.9. at 12–18
The exhibition features works by Raili Salojärvi. The exhibition includes oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolour works. Lappeenranta-themed postcards and magnets will be on sale.
Motanka craft workshop: come and make traditional Ukrainian dolls: 26.9.–27.9. at 15–18
Ukrainians of Lappeenranta region -association’s handicraft workshop, where you will learn about the traditional Ukrainian handicraft, motanka. During the two-day workshop you will make a motanka doll, which is associated with many beliefs. The workshop is recommended primarily for adults, but children over 14–years old are also welcome. The group can accommodate up to 10 people. Please register by 22.9. at ukrainalaiset.lpr@gmail.com. The same group will work on both days.
Hooked on Grandmas: 30.9.–6.10., mon–fri at 11–17.30, sat–sun at 10-16
Showcasing quilts crocheted by Päivi Parjanen-Vättö, a Lappeenranta-based granny square -obsessed crocheter. In the crochet corner you can try crocheting a granny square or come along with your own handicraft. There will also be energy trainer and life coach Jaana Soikkeli, from whom you can pick up a card of the day.
Sampo's Interior Design and Fashion workshops, exhibition and jewellery sale: 9.–11.10. at 10–16
Handicraft guidance students hold workshops on traditional craft techniques. There will also be guidance and advice on continuing and finishing unfinished crafts. Interior design students will have a textile exhibition in the Dream Corner and craft students will have a jewellery sale.
Kaamospuhallus by Nuorisotoimi: an activity place: 11.10. at 18–22
Kaamospuhallus -event by Nuorisotoimi will take place in IsoKristiina on 11.10., when there will be a variety of programmes at the Dream Corner.
Exhibition by Akvarellitiimi: 14.–27.10., mon-fri at 12-18 and sat-sun at 11–15
The themes of the exhibition: Old Photographs Tell, Naive Kalevala Pictures and Dropped Horizon
