Koulun esittely

Alakylä on alaluokkien 1-6 koulu, jossa toimivat myös kaupungin musiikkiluokat 3-6 -vuosiluokilla.  Lukuvuonna 2009-2010 koulussamme on n. 280 oppilasta, joita opettaa parisenkymmentä opettajaa avustajineen.

Vuoden 2009 alusta koulun yhteydessä on toiminut vuorohoitoa tarjoava Alakylän päiväkoti.

- joilla on hyvät käytöstavat,

During the school year 2008-2009, there were approximately 280 pupils in 14
different classes in our school. All the classes specialised in music
education in Lappeenranta operate in Alakylä School. These classes are meant
for pupils from the 3rd to 6th grades.  We are situated near the centre of the city (Map; K72). Thus, the
swimming hall, sports centre, ice ring and sports fields are readily
available and this proximity also enables the cooperation with the nearby
music institute. The main objective of our school is to provide pupils with
a good level of primary education and a broad spectrum of music education.

Further information on the school and its activities is provided on these
pages.

The school and day-care centre operate in close cooperation in
order to build a safe environment for the children to grow up and to learn.

In collaboration with parents and homes, our aim is to educate pupils

- to have a good and healthy self-esteem

- to appreciate learning and see its connection to work
- to be able to express and present themselves
- to respect nature and life in general
- to respect culture and traditions.

The music education classes

Alakylä School has offered music education classes since 1967. Apart from
getting the standard level of primary education, pupils obtain a solid level
of basic music education. Each pupil has his/her own musical instrument;
pupils learn to play their instruments at the Music Institute of
Lappeenranta. The focus of the teaching is to learn to sing in key through
regular singing practice and humming melodies. Pupils also frequently
perform at events outside the school during the school year.
