South Karelia Sports Academy
South Karelia Sports Academy is intended for students of Kimpinen Upper Secondary School and Lappeenrannan Lyseo Upper Secondary School who do sports competitively. The Sports Academy provides the opportunity to combine general upper secondary school studies with competitive sports activities.
Students can practise sports in the morning as part of their upper secondary school studies. The morning coaching consists of sport or physical training. In addition to the training, there are other upper secondary school courses that support competitive sports activities. Morning training can provide 16 credits, the “Kehity huippu-urheilijaksi” (“Become a top athlete”) course is worth 2 credits, and other studies supporting sports are carried out in cooperation with the upper secondary schools.
The coaching is generally carried out by the coaches of sports clubs, possibly the athletes’ personal coaches, and the sports academy’s physical coaches.
