Science programme at Lappeenranta’s general upper secondary schools

The (new) science programme at Lappeenranta’s general upper secondary schools offers upper secondary school studies in cooperation with LUT University and the working life. The science programme is part of the Lappeenranta Junior University (Uniori) study path.

In autumn 2022, the first students started their studies in the science programme, which operates in both of the city’s general upper secondary schools. Kimpinen Upper Secondary School offers social and economic studies as part of the programme, whereas Lappeenrannan Lyseo Upper Secondary School offers natural sciences and mathematics. Both schools work in close cooperation with both LUT University and the working life.

The studies in the science programme comprise 24 credits, including 4–6 LUT credits of university studies. LUT University will create its own admission criteria for students in the science programme to continue their studies at LUT University.

The studies in the science programme include diverse working life cooperation. Regional partners include the South Karelia Entrepreneurs’ Association, South Karelia Chamber of Commerce, Greenreality Network and Technology Industries of Finland.
