Tuomo Sallinen was appointed as the Mayor of Lappeenranta

The City Council of Lappeenranta unanimously appointed Tuomo Sallinen as the Mayor in its meeting held on April 8th. He will assume the position starting May 21, 2024.

The position of the Mayor of Lappeenranta was put up for application in mid-January after the former Mayor, Kimmo Jarva, resigned from his position in November 2023. After the application deadline, the selection committee unanimously proposed Sallinen for the position, who has been working for the city since 2020, initially as the City Secretary, then as the Deputy Mayor, and recently as the Acting Mayor.

Sallinen is very grateful for the trust placed in him and promises to do his utmost to deserve it. However, he will first embark on a different kind of work in just over a month.

- In mid-May, I will go on parental leave, so the actual Mayor's job will begin after that, says Sallinen.

- Substitutes will generally be arranged according to the city's normal substitute arrangements.
